Expert guidance for visitor visas, Super Visas, and extending your stay in Canada
Visit Canada With Confidence
Canada welcomes millions of visitors each year—tourists exploring our natural beauty, business professionals attending meetings and conferences, and families reuniting with loved ones. Whether you're planning a short vacation, an extended family visit, or a business trip, understanding Canadian visitor visa requirements is essential to ensuring your application is approved.
If you're from a country that requires a visa to enter Canada, you'll need a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) before you travel. If you're the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, you may be eligible for a Super Visa, which allows you to stay in Canada for up to 5 years at a time. And if you're already in Canada and want to extend your stay, you'll need to apply for a visitor record extension before your current status expires.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a visa to visit Canada?
It depends on your country of citizenship. Citizens of many countries (including Jamaica, most Caribbean nations, and many Latin American countries) require a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) to visit Canada. Citizens of some countries (like the US, UK, and many European countries) are visa-exempt but need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). Check the IRCC website or contact us to confirm your requirements.
What is a Super Visa and who can get one?
A Super Visa is a special long-term visitor visa for parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents. It allows stays of up to 5 years per entry. To qualify, you must be the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or PR, have Canadian medical insurance, and your host in Canada must meet income requirements.
How long can I stay in Canada as a visitor?
With a regular visitor visa, you're typically allowed to stay for up to 6 months. With a Super Visa, you can stay for up to 5 years per entry.
How much does Super Visa insurance cost?
Costs vary depending on your age, health, coverage amount, and insurance provider. Expect to pay between $1,500-$3,000+ per year for a parent or grandparent. We can recommend insurance providers who specialize in Super Visa coverage.
Can I work while visiting Canada?
No. Visitor visas do not authorize you to work in Canada. If you want to work, you need a work permit.
Can I apply for permanent residence while in Canada as a visitor?
In some circumstances, yes. However, as a visitor, you must still demonstrate that you'll leave Canada if your PR application is refused (dual intent). This situation requires careful application preparation.
Can I study while visiting Canada?
Generally no, unless your program is 6 months or less. For longer programs, you need a study permit.
Apply at least 30 days before your current status expires. Check your passport stamp or entry document for your expiry date. If you apply before your status expires, you have implied status while waiting for a decision.
When should I apply to extend my visitor status?
If your status expires, you're in Canada illegally. You may be able to apply for restoration of status within 90 days of losing status. After 90 days, you must leave Canada. Contact us immediately if your status has expired.
What happens if my visitor status expires?
Can I leave and re-enter Canada to reset my 6-month stay?
This is risky and not recommended. Border officers can deny you entry if they believe you're using multiple short trips to live in Canada as a visitor. If you want to stay longer, apply for an extension properly.
